As you may or may not know there are many misconceptions about those that ride motorcycles. Therefore, we look for appropriate opportunities to share with people what bikers are really all about. As mentioned in the mission statement earlier, part of what God has called this ministry to do, is to help create an awareness within the Christian community of the many needs and opportunities there are to minister to those that ride motorcycles - no matter what make or model of bike they may ride - no matter who they may or may not ride with.
This is done in part, by bringing presentations to churches, groups and organizations in an effort to help understand the culture and shatter the myths about bikers that Hollywood has so carefully created.
We've discovered in our travels that there are still many people out there who believe that almost everyone that rides a motorcycle is affiliated with a certain motorcycle club and that they all ride a certain brand of motorcycle. Our goal is to teach folks the truth about bikers and their culture; thereby alleviating the fear and misperceptions that have given bikers, as a whole, a questionable reputation.
We also provide seminars that are designed specifically for existing or forming motorcycle ministries, as well as for churches interested in starting their own motorcycle outreach to their communities. These seminars teach the basic protocols (the do's-and-don'ts) of the biker culture, and how to minister within that culture. Learning the unwritten protocols and adhering to them, is paramount to being an effective motorcycle ministry. The credibility and effectiveness of such a ministry can be severely compromised, if any of those protocols are broken.
We are always looking for an opportunity to bring these presentations and seminars to as many people as possible. With the correct information, it is our hope that Christians all over the world will be able to minister more effectively to the riders in their areas.
So if you think your church, group, or organization (or one that you might know of), would be interested in Riding To Reach Ministries bringing a presentation or seminar to them, them please contact us.
Runs and rallies are great opportunities to minister directly to the riders themselves. If you are open and alert to God's leading, He will give you opportunities to speak with them. The more events you go to, the more often you'll be seen. The more often you are seen, the more familiar they'll become with you. Then, over time, the more the relationships will build with them – thus, building bridges to Christ.
You may be asking yourself, "How do I know when and where the events are?" There are several ways to find out information about upcoming events in your area. You can pick up flyers or handouts at most motorcycle dealerships and bike shops, or you can check various event calendars either online or in motorcycle magazines. There may also be websites or local Facebook groups for your local area that list local events and of course, word of mouth is a great way to learn about events. Remember, not everything will be on every source of information, so utilize all of the resources.
The members of this ministry use these resources to prayerfully go out (two-by-two), wherever, and whenever God leads us. We go to the events, with the purpose of riding or working them. In any case, by simply being there, we are making ourselves available to minister to any and all in attendance. Isn't that what it's all about?
Can I Start A Motorcycle Ministry
In My Church
If there are riders in your area, a motorcycle ministry could be a wonderful opportunity to minister to them. The best way to do that is to be a biker friendly church. In order to be that, your church must simply be willing to accept them as they are - no strings attached - no questions asked.
Now, before you jump into this kind of ministry, let's take a moment and look at a few important questions first:
Do you truly believe that God wants to start a real Motorcycle Ministry in your church or a church Ride Group?
Do you know where to start and what to do first?
Are you aware of the unwritten protocols of the biker culture that you MUST follow?
Are you willing and able to make a commitment to do what it takes to start and maintain a motorcycle ministry through your church?
If you feel that God wants to start a motorcycle ministry in your local church, then your church will need to be ‘biker friendly'. In order to do that, one of the first things that would need to be done is to provide official motorcycle parking in a place that is close to the front door and at the same time is visible to the riders as they pass the church. Seeing motorcycles at your church will get the attention of riders in your area and may start to open their hearts. It is also important to understand that riders will be wearing riding gear when they come to your church. Suits and dresses just don’t work well on motorcycles. The most important concept to understand is to welcome the riders to your church and allowing God to work through your local church body to minister to them.
If you know that this is what God wants for you and your local church body or if you have any additional questions, then please contact us. We would be happy to assist you in building bridges to Christ.
Other Ministry Opportunities
Below are other opportunities to be part of this ministry, whether or not you ride a motorcycle or wear a back patch. All you need is a heart for people that ride motorcycles and for those that minister to them.
Please continue to prayerfully read and let God touch your heart.
We live in very difficult times and there are many hurting people out there. The members of Riding To Reach Ministries (and every other motorcycle ministry for that matter), are like 'soldiers for the cross'. Every time they saddle up, they are going out to do battle with our enemy (Satan). As with any other soldier, they never know what kind of situations they may encounter. Therefore they must be fully prepared and equipped with all the tools they need. In this case, the most important tool is, 'The sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God' - the Bible (Ephesians 6:17b).
We want to make sure that every rider has in his or her hands, a Biker Bible (New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs), that they can call their very own. What better way to give them hope in a hopeless world than by giving them the eternal hope of Christ, through His Word?
Would you like to be a part of helping us to put a Bible into the hand of every rider out there? If so, you can get involved by clicking on the link below, which will take you directly to the Bibles-4-Bikers website. By participating in this effort, you will be taking an active part in this ministry and the work that God has called it to do.
So come, get involved; help us to shed some light into an otherwise dark world. Thank you and may God richly bless you.
From the very beginning of this ministry, God instilled a vision to create and maintain a "Biker-Friendly Church Network" (B.F.C.N.). The purpose of this network is:
To help unify the body of Christ (the church).
To make it possible for a rider in need to connect with a Christ centered, Bible believing church body in their area, that will accept them as they are and minister to them and their families - no strings attached - no questions asked.
To make sure that anyone, whether they ride or not, will be able to find a church in their area that will love on them and disciple them - so that none will fall through the cracks.
This is a God sized vision and undertaking, and we know we can't do it alone. What we're looking for are people like you; people with a willingness to help build bridges to Christ anywhere in the world.
So, if you know of a Christ centered church in your area that is biker-friendly (or wants to be), then please let us know. All you need to do is click on the link below, which will take you directly to the Biker-Friendly Church Network website. It won't cost you anything but a little time. This is a free service to the churches, so that it might be a priceless blessing for the riders. It has also been our experience that some people, who would not normally set foot in a church, will go to a church because there are bikers there.
Thank you for your participation in such a huge project. The more churches that are on the network, the more opportunities there will be for God's people to minister to the riders and their families. We're looking forward to hearing from you very soon.
